On the eve of Oct. 10 while many exhilarated freshmen were painting their faces white and buying white long socks, the freshman girls volleyball team was warming up to play seven games in one night in Germantown. “I am very disappointed that I had to miss my first Homecoming football game, but it’s worth it because my team is number one in our conference,” Megan Hagerty, volleyball player, explained.

“When we signed up to participate in volleyball part of the commitment was that we would be missing this game,” Sadie Leszczynski, freshman, said. Leszczynski said it’s worth missing the homecoming game because she is apart of a team and is partaking in not only a regular game but a conference tournament.

“The number of practices and drills we do adds to the reason we can’t just throw these games away for one football game,” Ellie Pramenko, freshman, said.

“Although football games are extremely entertaining and super fun, I would go to a basketball game over it. “When you’re apart of a team you cannot let them down just so you can go to a fun event,” Chloe Marotta, freshman, hoping to make varsity basketball this year, said.

As it turned out the freshman volleyball team placed first out of their conference. “It was all worth it,” Hagerty said.
