Chloe Marotta, freshman, jumps up and tries to block her opponents shot. The ball had gone in the hoop, which scored one point for Port. “How we play and work together as a team, really helps us to win games,” Marotta said.

After a week of tremendous conference play by all Homestead sports, the teams look to keep moving forward in their seasons. Last week, Homestead went 11-0 in all Varsity sports and hope the wins keep coming. Boys hockey, girls basketball and boys swim feel very confident that their undefeated seasons will stay alive.
Through the first six games of their season, the boys hockey team has dominated all their opponents including two big conference wins this weekend against Cedarburg and Germantown. “I’m really happy with how we played this weekend and throughout the whole season. The team has worked very hard and it’s starting to show,” Adam Hobbs, senior captain, stated. The boys have another conference game this Tuesday against the co-op team of Whitefish Bay, Nicolet and Shorewood as well as an overnight trip in Madison where the team will play Oregon High School on Friday and Monona Grove High School on Saturday.
After a two-win weekend for the boys basketball team against Brookfield East and Grafton, the boys feel very well about how their season has gone so far. “We picked up our intensity in practice and it translated to the games. But, those are done now and we have more tough games coming up this week,” Jacob Urban, junior, stated. The team has two conference games this week: at Nicolet on Tuesday and at home against Cedarburg on Friday.
The ladies co-op hockey team, Lakeshore Lightning, are coming off two huge games this weekend, as they blew out Viroqua on Friday and beat Badger Thunder for the second time time year on Saturday. With a record of 5-1, the ladies look to continue their winning streak by facing off with rival Arrowhead on Friday at home and the Fox City Stars in Kettle Moraine on Saturday.
After a two win week against two very tough teams, the Homestead girls basketball team looks to keep their undefeated record through two away games this week, against conference rival Nicolet on Tuesday and Cedarburg on Friday. The Nicolet game is significant as it is the first time Corey Wolf, girls basketball coach, will face off against her former team.
After an important meet against Grafton in their home opener, the wrestling team came out victorious last Thursday. “It was a decent meet, but there is still a lot for our team to work on,” Drew Waller, senior, stated about the meet. The team hopes to add the second win to their record with a conference meet at Nicolet on Thursday and and Invitational meet at Appleton West on Saturday.
Coming off their 106-77 victory over Grafton last Tuesday, the boys’ swim and dive team will head to two away meets this week as they compete at Arrowhead this Tuesday and at Nicolet this Thursday.
