Knocking their opponents down, wearing them out during their match, beating them to the point of attack, Homestead looks to take down Nicolet on Thursday, Dec. 18. The wrestling team is fresh off a hard-fought conference victory against Grafton and looks to keep the momentum going into this meet.

Nicolet has not had a competitive team in recent history; however, this year may prove to be an outlier as Nicolet is coming off of a meet against a talented Grafton team. Nicolet has two stand-out wrestlers this year in Teague Worlton, junior, in the 138-pound class and Savion Dean, junior, in the 145 weight class. Those two matches could prove to be a swaying point for the meet as a whole.

However, Gage Zupke, Larry Martin, Drew Waller, Mark Usatinsky and Joey Fischer, seniors, and Tyler Denmark, junior, also had strong performances last meet, racking up pins. Connor Scholtus, senior, also added, “The younger guys stepped up during the dual-meet.”

Zupke is the only returning Homestead wrestler with state experience and is looking to build off of that as the season goes on.

Overall, this meet will keep spectators pinned to their seats. Be sure to check out the action at 6:30 in the Nicolet gymnasium.
