Signing their National Letters of Intent this afternoon, Elijah Perine, David Pfaff and Nick Ziebell, seniors, have shined another light on Homestead football.

Perine, offensive lineman, will join the University of Sioux Fall’s football program, while Ziebell, tight end, will attend Concordia University – St. Paul. Staying in Wisconsin, Pfaff, defensive lineman, will play at the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

“It’s a really great opportunity and I’m just really excited to be able to play at the next level,” Ziebell said. “It’s something that I’ve dreamt about doing, but until my senior year I never really thought that I’d be able to, so I’m just really honored.”

The soon-to-be collegiate athletes, however, have learned that one can only fulfill his or her dreams through unmitigated hard work and dedication.

“It’s kind of a sense of relief I’m getting now,” Pfaff said. “It’s a sense of accomplishment too because I’ve worked so hard and for it to pay off like this is a great feeling.”

Although the seniors look forward to a successful college career, they will miss the Homestead football program, as well as the Homestead community as a whole.

“We have a great coaching staff and I think that we were led in the right direction,” Pfaff said. “The people [at Homestead] are great, the school is fantastic and I just hope Wisconsin measures up to it.”

“Of course it will be nice to meet new guys and play with new guys, but I’m going to miss the guys that I played with here,” Ziebell added.

According to Mr. Fritz Rauch, former defensive coordinator, the Homestead football program will miss Perine, Pfaff and Ziebell as well.

“It reflects really well [on Homestead football],” Mr. Rauch said. “We’ve got three guys who are all high caliber kids going to universities to get an education and to play football, and that speaks tremendously to the quality of our program.”
