Freshman Friday
Kocab strides & evaluates through the first month of track
In a house of five rambunctious boys resides Tommy Kocab, freshman. Football is seen as a “tradition” within their family, starting at a young age and continuing on into high school. Although the football season is only in the fall, training, for Kocab, is a year long activity.
With the initial interest of participating in track this year because his friends were doing it, Kocab has found it to be beneficial to “stay in shape during spring.”
Unsure of what event to participate in, Kocab’s long lanky legs took him to training to be a hurdler. “I started to realize that my long legs gave me a distinct advantage,” Kocab explained.
Multiple weeks into the season, Kocab has now re-evaluated goals for himself from staying in shape, to improving his “personal times, and become stronger and faster.”
Kocab has the ambition to be “the fastest hurdler in the conference.”
Through evaluating and reconsidering goals, Kocab is discovering what he can “contribute to the track team.”
