The Homestead softball team is motivated to grow together as a team. “We are getting better and more comfortable with each other,” junior, Allie Beckers said.

After a dominating comeback against North Shore Conference opponent Grafton, the Homestead girls softball team takes on conference rival Cedarburg on Thursday, April 22 at Homestead School.

Although the Highlanders face a solid Cedarburg team, they are confident they will come out with a win. “We’re ready for anything. They are a really good team, but I think we can pull through and win the game,” Emily Polk, sophomore, said. The Highlanders aim to improve on their 3-0 conference record.

For the girls, staying fundamentally sound is the key to victory. “We need to keep hitting well and keep the amount of errors low. I think we will do great tomorrow if we do those things,” Hannah Behnken, senior captain, said.

In addition to being smart in the field and in the batters box, they aim to bring an intangible factor to every game. “Our game plan is always the same– to bring energy and positivity,” Allie Beckers, junior, said.

This season, the team has adopted an all-in attitude. Everyone knows they must contribute to stay in the lineup. “Everyone has done a great job of contributing whether it be hitting, fielding or base running. No matter what position someone is in, they come out their very hardest which is all we can ask for,” Behnken said.

The Highlanders are focused on this Cedarburg game, but the future is always in the back of their minds. “I think our outlook is to go all the way to state this year,” Beckers said.
