Gonzalo Morales, sophomore, cools down after his race. “I’m excited to finally get outside and face some good competition,” Morales said.

With spring time upon us, the outdoor track season is in full swing, and the Homestead boys track team is starting to pick up the pace. “The training is intense, but it’ll pay off in the end,” Serafino LaGalbo, junior, said. Mr. Todd Brawner, head coach, has the team geared up and ready for another postseason run.

After completing a highly competitive indoor season, and a few outdoor meets under their belt, the boys track team is looking forward to a strong outdoor season. “We are all looking to better our times and hopefully contribute to winning a lot of outdoor meets,” Patrick Minkin, junior, said.

This Saturday, the boys track team heads to Wisconsin Lutheran High School to compete in an open meet against 13 other schools. All runners are looking to have success in a highly competitive meet.

“The season is going all right, but we hope that in these next to meets our performances start to pick up,” Joe Wasserman, junior, said. With the conference meet approaching in early May, the team has just a short period of time to reach their peak performance.

“As a team we are looking to improve in all aspects,” LaGalbo affirmed. From the beginning of the season, the boys have had their eyes on success. The team has plans for success this weekend and hope that success will boost them into a strong run towards the postseason.
