Winning by a wide margin, the girls varsity basketball team defeated Nicolet 76-27 on Friday, Jan. 7.

“I think the girls did really well last night. We really worked as a unit, but there are things we still need to improve on,” Samantha Crivello, sophomore, said.

The girls came in with a positive attitude and focused on improving team strategy.

“I didn’t necessarily expect to win, but I knew it would be a game where we would have enough of a lead to work on team weakness like defensive close outs,” Grace Crowley, sophomore said.

Hoping to improve upon skills and defense, the team looks to further success in later games.

“We play Rufus King this week which will be a really tough game for us, so we need to work on locking down on defense. But overall, we’ve really seen great improvement throughout the team,” Crivello said.

For the later season, the girls are hoping to win the conference championship and push themselves to winning the state championship also.

“The rest of the season will go great if we keep playing every game like it’s a championship. With lots of conference games to come, we are really going to have some tough games. If we keep working hard in practice, it will all work out,” Emily Polk, senior said.
