‘A party with a purpose:’ Boyer shares memories earned through Younglife

“The two main extracurriculars that I participate in are tennis and Younglife. Younglife is an organization that is essentially ‘a party with a purpose’. Every Monday, a big group of kids comes together to play games, sing songs and at the end of the night hear a brief talk about religion. I first became involved with it in eighth grade when a mom at my church started Wyldlife, which is Younglife for kids in middle school. I am now a Wyldlife leader. I love all the friendships that I have made through this program. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite times of the week.

One cool thing about Younglife is camp. For camp, everyone comes together and heads to Michigan. We go to Timber Wolf. There are a bunch of cool activities at your disposal there. There are rope courses, color powder wars and even giant swings that go up about 75 feet in the air. There’s also a lake in which you can go tubing, zip-lining, paddle boarding and rope swinging.

About two times a day there is a time called ‘club’ where about 500 people fit in an auditorium, sing songs, play games and hear an inspirational speaker talk about life and God. Club is such a fun time.

However, my favorite part of camp is cabin time. During this time, each person shares their honest opinion about the messages we hear. I really feel that relationships between each person grow stronger during cabin time. That’s a huge reason why I love it so much. Overall, camp is amazing” (Alyssa Boyer, junior).
