Committing to play in college
“I committed to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in November of 2016. I chose Whitewater because of their successful business program and because I wanted to continue my baseball career. So, it works out very well. I have been playing baseball since I was in pre-school. My father got me into baseball by introducing it to me at a young age. I’ve loved it ever since. The best part of baseball for me is hanging out with my friends all summer and being able to do something I’m passionate about. The worst part is balancing work, baseball and a social life. It’s a lot of work. One challenge I have faced is to take needed days off. I spend a lot of time working on the mechanics of baseball and building my strength. The issue I sometimes have is overworking myself, which is never a good thing. Overall, I like baseball because I’ve grown up around it. It’s something I’ve always liked because of that. It’s one thing that’s always been there for me, and I love doing it.” (Joe Panella, senior).
