Jewish beginnings: Chavin reflects on her time in BBYO

“I’m in BBYO. BBYO is a Jewish youth organization that is formerly known as B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, now BBYO. It is a Jewish teen movement aspiring to involve Jewish teens in Jewish experiences. I am the regional Gizborit, or treasurer, for Wisconsin region BBYO.

I have been in BBYO for a little over a year now, and I ran for my position last May and tt has been a really big leadership role. From my experiences I have learned so many valuable leadership lessons. It has taught me how important it is to crawl out of your shell and try new things and has allowed me to meet new people and grow as a person and as a leader. I think that it is a really good experience.

BBYO has impacted me as a person. It has made me more confident in myself and my ability to demand a crowd and share my ideas, whether that be a program or helping other girls. Although, I am going off to Madison next year, the memories and friendships I have made in my short time in the program will really stick. BBYO has definitely changed my life for the better.”
