Humans of Homestead: Real Life
The "Humans of Homestead" blog is modeled after the well-known "Humans of New York" site run by Brandon Stanton. Stanton features street portraits of people in New York City, along with snippets of conversations. Humans of Homestead aims to tell the stories of staff and students alike. “What advice would you give to kids after they finish their high school career?”
“Don’t be in too big of a hurry to get started with ‘real life.’ While at some point all of you will probably be in a situation where you have to earn a living, support a family and further your career, there is no reason that has to start four years after you graduate high school.
Use this time while you are still young – and before you fall prey to all the obligations that trap most adults – to live life. You will never be more free than you are right now to pursue your dreams. If you fail, and you might if your dream is big enough, you can always fall back on the same track all the rest of your college-bound classmates have chosen. You will never regret trying, but you will never know if your dreams were possible if you don’t.”
