Freshman Friday: Piryani navigates the world and the halls of Homestead
April 10, 2015
Every Friday, Homestead Publications chooses a freshman to be featured in “Freshman Friday,” giving the student population the opportunity to get to know its freshman class. Read below to learn about Nikita Piryani, a world traveler and a tennis player.
What has been your favorite aspect of Homestead during your first year here?
I’ve really enjoyed participating in extracurricular activities this year. It’s a great way of meeting new people and doing fun stuff. This year I was part of many clubs and groups like tennis, Student Council, Forensics, Humanitarian Club and Champions.
What is your favorite travel destination and why?
My favorite place I’ve visited would have to be London because it has so many interesting attractions and landmarks. Also, I loved riding in the red double decker-busses because that way we could tour London better. And the telephone call boxes were pretty cool too.
What has been your favorite class at Homestead this year? Who has been your favorite teacher? Why?
My favorite class at Homestead was Honors World Studies with Mrs. Grimm. Her lessons were very fun and we learned something new everyday. My favorite part of Honors World Studies was Abacaxi because it gave everyone a chance to participate in running a country.
Who is a person that you have always looked up to? Why?
I’ve always looked up to my dad. He has a great personality and he’s really smart and hard working. I aspire to be like him one day.
What sports do you play in and out of high school? Do you have a favorite?
My favorite sport that I play is tennis. It’s an enjoyable sport to play.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
If I won the lottery I would probably spend half of it traveling to new places, go on a shopping spree and trying new foods. I would save rest of the money for college and donate some to charity.
If you could give next year’s freshman class one piece of advice, what would it be and why?
Don’t procrastinate because otherwise you’ll be staying up till 1 a.m. to finish a project!
What are you looking forward to most next year?
I’m really looking forward to going to Spain next year for orchestra.
