‘Humans of Homestead’ give themselves advice

If you could give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be? Would it be taking school more seriously, living every day to the fullest, or maybe something else? These “Humans of Homestead” shared their responses.

Jacob Bartscher, junior, studies his math book during his study hall. He attended Homestead High School both his freshman and sophomore years. “Starting this year I would tell myself to be more determined in school; the more determined I am, the better prepared I will be for the future,” Bartscher said.

Tommy Kocab, freshman, reflects on past school years and his studying habits. He dedicated his time to start off high school the right way. “Don’t procrastinate,” Kocab said. “[Do your] schoolwork and study.”

JP Benson, sophomore, encourages people to break out of their comfort zones. When asked what advice he would give himself, he took a moment to think about his answer. “Try new things,” Benson decided, “It builds relationships.”

Chase Gabriel, senior, constantly practices tennis to improve his game. When he was young he never took private lessons. “If I would have taken private lessons throughout my playing career I would have gone way further with my game, so I have to practice everyday to make up for my missed guidance,” Gabriel said.

Abby Pipines, junior, is frustrated with her work ethic in school. Last year, she barely did her homework. “School used to be really easy for me, so I did not really put forth the effort; however, it’s starting to catch up with me and I want to apply myself more,” Pipines said.

Grace Beauchamp, sophomore, thinks about how she can better herself as a student.  As it is her second year at Homestead High School she expressed the desire to thrive in school. “I would tell myself to take my time with everything that I do and make sure that it is my best work possible,” Beauchamp said.

Anna Kornreich, junior, reflects on her productivity and work habits. She decided to focus on time management in her everyday life. “Don’t waste your time; you have a limited amount,” Kornreich said.

Maggie Martin, junior, regretfully starts another Netflix session. The video service has claimed the free time of countless teenagers around the United States. “Cancel your Netflix account while you still have time,” Martin advised.
