I am a sailor,
venturing into uncharted waters,
attempting to make sense of the world.
When I step onto the bow,
I see the open waters,
brimming with opportunity.
When I look toward the stern,
I see my motor, primed and ready to
propel me toward the future,
leaving behind the security of my memories.
My sails are my real driving force,
they get me out of the harbor every morning,
they adjust for the ever changing winds to keep me on the right track,
they push me through rough waters.
It’s not always smooth sailing,
trying to stay afloat during the hurricanes of life,
trying to navigate through a sea of obstacles, and
trying to make it back to the safety of my port.
I am a sailor,
not afraid of the storms ahead,
for I am learning how to sail my ship.
