Freshman Friday: Hering skis his way through high school

Every Friday, Highlander Publications chooses a freshman to be featured in “Freshman Friday,” giving the student population the opportunity to get to know its freshman class. Read below to learn about this week’s freshman, Alec Hering.

 

What sports do you play?

I run cross country, do ski racing and play lacrosse but skiing is definitely my favorite.

 

How long have you been skiing?

My dad taught me how to ski when I was 3 years old and I started racing when I was 8.

 

What is your favorite part about being on the ski team?

My favorite part is definitely being able to go really fast and meeting a lot of new people.

 

What club team do you race for?

I ski for Holy Hill Race Team.

 

How many siblings do you have?

I have one younger sister in sixth grade named Cate.

 

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs, Alice and Minna, and I have two cats named Rosie and Zuzu.

 

If you were a sandwich, what type would you be?

I would be a BLT because they are so tasty.

 

If you could fill an empty pool with anything what would it be?

I would definitely fill the pool with money.

 

What have you enjoyed most about high school so far?

I have really enjoyed meeting a lot of new people and having a lot more freedom than middle school.

 

What are you looking forward to in the next three and a half years?

I am really looking forward to hanging out with my friends and just having a fun time for the rest of high school.
