Kasich to end his presidential bid
Gov. John Kasich is apparently terminating his presidential campaign, according to a senior campaign advisor, making Donald Trump the only option for the nomination. After 17 candidates, the Republican Party now has its nomination.
As Trump swept the Indiana primary, Cruz announced the end to his campaign last night, and Kasich is following his lead. Although Kasich has not officially announced his decision, “two sources familiar with the plan confirmed,” according to CNN.
Kasich deemed to be a strong candidate as he is more moderate compared to some of his competitors. He outlasted other governors in this race, but his long campaign was mostly due to his stubborn refusal to drop out earlier.
Even though his campaign failed to pick up traction, other polls stated that to beat Hillary Clinton, Kasich was the man for the job. This is what kept his campaign running, despite the lack of voters.
After the Kasich campaign canceled a briefing at the Washington Dulles International Airport, a news conference was scheduled at 5 p.m. in Columbus, Ohio where Kasich is expected to announce the end of his candidacy.
CNN’s Wolf Blizter asked Trump about Kasich plans to drop out and Trump responded saying “I think John’s doing the right thing.”
