If you’re looking for a fun, culturally enlightening activity to do this October, then look no further than the China Lights festival at the Boerner Botanical Gardens.

In celebration of Chinese history, the gardens will have over 40 LED light displays scattered throughout the property during the entire month. These exhibits range from a moving windmill to the cast of Finding Nemo.

The festival also offers a number of live dance and music performances. Additionally, the itinerary includes various calligraphy and painting demonstrations.

For the more food-focused attendees, China Lights has a wide range of traditional Chinese cuisine and even some untraditional twists, such as apple pie egg rolls. There will even be a tea ceremony during the weekend of Oct. 21-23.

There really is something for everyone at the China Lights festival and at just $10 a ticket, it’s cheaper than flying.
