Seniors embrace their last time on home turf

The varsity football players stand for the National Anthem at an away game. This Friday will mark the last home game for our seniors. “What I will miss most about this team is the bonding I’ve had with each and every player on the team. They are a second family to me,” Tyler Albright, senior, said.

Four years. One sport. One team.

The Homestead football team’s seniors will play their last game on home turf on Friday, Nov. 4. As the game approaches, the seniors reminisce on past memories, past games and past wins.

“I will remember all of the memories I’ve had with my teammates and brothers on the field. Everyone can think of their own memories and know exactly where they happened on the turf. With the last home game this week, we must leave it all on the field and play with a purpose to end on top,” Tyler Albright, senior, said.

Some can’t believe that it is actually going to be over.

“It really doesn’t feel like it’s my last game at home, I’m sure it’ll really set in afterwards.  But it’s a really bittersweet feeling.  This will be the last time I step foot on that field with the friends I’ve grown up with.  We’ve made some great memories on that field with some memorable games, as well as a state title win together while playing on that field.  The memories we’ve made here will last a lifetime and I’ll cherish them the rest of my life,” Eric Zoeller, senior, said.

All of them will take what they have learned and bring it to whatever comes next in their lives.

“Being a part of the Homestead Football team didn’t just help me grow as a football player; I grew as a person. Even though the football season is essentially over, football has prepared my teammates and I for anything that life throws at us,” Sam Tucker, senior, said.

All of them will play hard.

“I just love playing with the boys and fighting it out, we have an opportunity to make our last home game special,” Johnny Erpenbeck, senior, said.

All of them will remember.

“What I will miss most about this team is the bonding I’ve had with each and every player on the team. They are a second family to me,” Albright said.
