Hannah’s Inspiration: Spreading joy through flowers

Hannah’s Inspiration is a floral business created by Mrs. Bryde, the Manager of Technology.

Mrs. Bryde has lived her whole life surrounded by flowers. As a child, her mother filled her home with them and placed them in her room when she visited and Bryde continues to do the same for her daughters. This constant presence of flowers along with her decades of crafting experience has inspired Bryde to start a side business of flowers, called Hannah’s Inspiration, Floral Design by Liz Bryde.

Bryde, manager of technology, runs this new business along with working full time at Homestead. She does most of the work for the business during her lunch hour, after school and on the weekends. “Whenever there is downtime, that’s what I do,” Bryde said.

The floral design branch of Hannah’s Inspiration was launched in June of 2016. This business also includes a children’s book, greeting cards and crafts all made and sold by Bryde. She began designing the flowers for her daughter’s wedding this past June, which prompted her to do another wedding and pursue flowers as a side business. “I decided to invest in myself,” Bryde said.

Before picking which flowers to sell or how to arrange them, she attended the Milwaukee School of Flower Design to learn the business aspect of flowers. From there, Bryde opened Hannah’s Inspiration and began providing for events.

Hannah’s Inspiration sells all kinds of fresh flowers for all special occasions including weddings, birthdays and anniversaries. This year, Bryde is working with Mrs. Dawn Pfaff, student council adviser, and the prom committee to offer the purchasing of flowers for the event as well as white rose corsages and red rose boutonnieres for individuals. Bryde attended the meetings to answer questions about the flowers for the committee and give them pricings, and she will also be designing the Queen’s bouquet and the King’s Boutonniere.

In all of Bryde’s past business endeavors, she has enjoyed doing a charity tie-in and is continuing to do so in Hannah’s Inspiration. Her work at Oriole Lane as the special ed paraeducator has inspired her to donate 15% of the proceeds of the corsages and boutonnieres to Homestead’s Best Buddies. “For me, giving back to the community is very important,” Bryde said.
After prom, Bryde will continue to provide flowers for weddings and other occasions. She enjoys the creativity of her work and making people happy through flowers and wishes to continue with it. Bryde hopes to transition into the business after retiring from Mequon Thiensville School District.

“This is something that I’m really enjoying and I’m going to push forward with it and see how it goes,” Bryde shared.
