Milwaukee Brewers strike out on opening day
The Milwaukee Brewers came out swinging for opening day as they took on the Colorado Rockies on Monday, April 3.
Although the Rockies defeated the Brewers 7-5, Milwaukee fans stepped up to the plate to cheer the Brewers on for the start of their new season. Many of these fans included our very own Homestead students who skipped a day of school eager for a great day of baseball at Miller Park.
Meg Niedfeldt, junior, enjoyed the exciting and busy atmosphere of the game with her younger sister, Meredith.
“People were cheering and booing and many were very invested in the game,” Niedfeldt said.
Another fan in the crowd, Morgan Bayer, senior, gathered with friends to partake in the excitement of opening day.
“The atmosphere is amazing. The crowd roaring all around, listening for the crack of the bat,” Bayer said. “Like any Milwaukee Brewers fan, I hope they have a winning season. Although we didn’t win on opening day, that doesn’t mean we can’t win the next one.”
Despite the loss, many fans continue to be hopeful for a great season and are looking forward to watch the Brewers play.
“The Brewers showed they still have room for improvement… That’s okay for the first game, but we have to come out tomorrow and get after it,” Adam McCalvy and Thomas Harding, MLB sports reporters, wrote.
