Freshman Friday: Ashley Chavin
Every Friday, Highlander Publications chooses a freshman to be featured in “Freshman Friday,” giving the student population the opportunity to get to know its freshman class. Read below to learn about this week’s freshman, Ashley Chavin.
Do you play any sports?
“I played on the Homestead tennis team. I like the aspect of being on the team and meeting a lot of new people.”
Do you play any instruments?
“I play the violin. I like having class with a lot of my close friends and I like playing music from movies.”
Do you have any siblings?
“I have two sisters, Rachel and Becca. Rachel is a sophomore at Drake University and Becca is a senior at Homestead. I like that she drives me everywhere and that I am friends with a lot of upperclassmen. I like to visit my older sister Rachel at school.”
Do you have any pets?
“I have two dogs, Cosmo and Cherrie. I like to take them on walks and play with them.”
What are some of your hobbies?
“I play tennis and I’m also in forensics and costumes for the play. I am also the treasurer for my chapter in BBYO.”
What’s your typical Saturday like?
“A typical Saturday for me would be playing tennis, hanging out with friends or staying home and watching TV.”
What are you looking forward to in high school?
“I am looking forward to taking some classes that I normally wouldn’t take. For example, in the future I am looking forward to possibly taking photography because I normally don’t take photos, but it’s something that interests me.”
What’s a fun/random fact about you?
“I know how to play the piano.”
