Love is in the air
On Tuesday, Feb. 6, students from the AVID 11 class started a fundraiser for the college trip to Minnesota in April. The students have been selling candy grams that come with either a carnation or chocolates during A and B lunch, and will be delivering them on Valentine’s Day.
“We came up the idea of the Valentine’s Day fundraiser because we still needed a lot of donations but we couldn’t do another bake sale,” Brooke Bell, junior, said.
Not only did the students take part in the preparation, but Principal Brett Bowers and Mr. Joe Ciurlik, AVID teacher, were also involved in the sale.
“I particularly got involved because I was one of the people to come up with the idea which was based off the fundraiser that took place in Mean Girls,” Bell said.
The sale not only raises money for a good cause but also is a festive way to get ready for the holiday. “It makes people excited by being able to get something delivered to them on Valentine’s day from their friends,” Sydney Kleinerman, junior, said.
“We raised more money than we thought we would have raised so it was great turn out and it was fun to do as a class as well as seeing people’s reactions when we delivered them,” India Wilkerson, junior, said.
