High school schedule adjusted due to closings
As a result of losing four days of instruction due to the cold and snowy weather, Homestead put five minute passing period into effect on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, a change from the usual six-minute passing period. Students this week have been adjusting to getting to classes in a shorter period of time.
In addition, the late start on April 24 will be canceled and be a full day of school because the shorter passing period for the rest of the school year, as Principal Brett Bowers explained in an email to Homestead families, does not account for enough of the lost time. “There are not enough days in the school year for our passing period change to gain us three hours of instruction,” Bowers wrote.
February and March late starts will stay as planned and therefore final exam dates have not been moved.
