Fighting setbacks
“I broke my back in February of my freshman year. When the doctors told me it was broken, I immediately thought about volleyball and didn’t know what I was going to do. The doctors told me that if I worked hard on building up my core then I would build up scar tissue around the break and that would stop some of the pain or I could get surgery. I chose to work hard and now three years later I am playing volleyball without feeling any pain in my back. The hard work that I had to put in helped me get back to playing the sport I love.” – Gabi Thomas, junior
