“I connect with cross country because to me it doesn’t feel like a sport; it feels like a true thing that humans do. It’s that mental idea of like how far can your body go. How mentally strong are you? If we look at the sport, to me, it’s like the true sport; it’s you against yourself every single time. Also you can’t really pay to be good at it; you can’t pay to be on the team. It’s literally what you put into it, and you can have the highest of highs and the lowest of lows but it’s 100% dependent on what you do.”
