It’s officially Autumn, which means pumpkin spice lattes, changing leaves and scary movies, but the best part is the outfits. A group of students and staff talked about their go-to fashion choices once there’s a cool breeze in the air.
An overwhelming favorite article of clothing was hoodies. Out of the five people interviewed, four mentioned some type of hoodie as their top outerwear choice. Popular brands included Abercrombie, Carhartt, Altar’d State, and Shein.
Vests were also highlighted by Adde Gehoski, a freshman, who gets hers from Altar’d State, just like her hoodies. William Bai, junior, mentioned vests as his first pick, mentioning favorite brands like Zara, Uniqlo, and H&M.
“They can be very elegant; they give a special energy, plus I love layering,” Bai said.
Next are tops with an abundance of options depending on the day and weather. Gehoski typically opts for a long sleeve or crop top, while Lorin
VanWagenen, AVID, and health teacher, and Josh Wirth, sophomore, enjoy their graphic tees. Bai prefers a sweater to add some “flavor, contrast, and texture” to outfits, and Jackson Gooding, junior, often sports a basic tee, emphasizing comfort.
Now onto bottoms! Jeans are an absolute staple for Gehoski, Bai, and Gooding. Their favorite brands include American Eagle, Express, Levi’s, and Pacsun.
Bai insists, “Jeans can change the whole outfit; they need to fit you right, and when they do, it is very powerful.”
VanWagenen favors joggers, particularly “from Amazon and in black because they’re easy to dress up or down,” while Wirth typically goes for cargo pants, appreciating street style.
Shoes are where personality shines through. Gehoski and Wirth agree that Tasman Uggs are not only comfy but also stylish. Wirth also enjoys Birkenstocks and Yeezy slides, which are perfect for a relaxed, minimal-effort look while still serving looks. Gooding is always ready to get to work with his Red Wing Boots, while VanWagenen loves her Nike sneakers, where she likes to spend the most money and really make her outfit stand out.
Bai maintains a classy approach with shoes from Everlane, Alberts and Coach.
Many prefer shoes that stand out whether with bright colors, high price tags, or trendy designs but Bai offers a different perspective, stating,
“They need to complement the outfit, not be bold; they have to bring the whole thing together.”
Last but not least are accessories! Although they might not be the major focus of an outfit, they can truly make or break a look. Gooding insists on wearing his hat at all times, as it adds a personal touch but sadly he is hiding an amazing mullet. Wirth loves to spice up his ensembles with matching bracelets and his favorite necklaces, finding that the right accessories can elevate even the most
undecorated outfit. From bold statement necklaces or earrings to dainty pieces of jewelry, accessories play a key role in defining an individual’s style.
