This past weekend I had a very exciting opportunity to go to PBR (professional bull riding) and do a ceremonial swear in.
When my recruiter first reached out to me about this, I was so excited because I love PBR, but when I started thinking about it I started to get kind of scared because I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. I wondered where we were going to be doing it, what day it would be on, if anybody could come with me, or how many other people would be there.
Once my recruiter got all the details, she told me I was going on Saturday, and I got one extra ticket, I decided to bring my cousin with me, and then my family and his got their tickets. We got there around 6 p.m. to meet the recruiters out front and get our tickets.
Once we got inside, we could do whatever, but we had to make sure we met back at the Air Force table by 7:10 with our shirts on that they gave us. We just sort of walked around checking it all out and hung out in our seats for a little while. I then went back down the main level and waited to go down on the dirt.
Once we walked down, we were right next to all of the bulls, which was cool. We walked behind into the hallways and we saw all of the bull riders and we got to talk to them a little bit. Then it was time to walk out to do the swearing in, I started to get kind of nervous, but once I walked out there, it wasn’t that bad, I honestly couldn’t see anything with all of the lights off except for a big bright one on us. The crowd started cheering when they announced we were going to do a ceremonial swearing in, it seemed way longer than usual for some reason, but it was done in like a minute. We then walked off and everyone was shaking our hands and thanking us. Overall it was such a cool and fun experience!
