Akshay Bharathwaj is a junior at Homestead High School and a member of the school’s varsity robotics team. Akshay’s role in robotics is to work with businesses or plan community outreach events. Recently the team made it to worlds after their performance at robotics state. Akshay reflects on his time in robotics throughout high school saying, “My favorite memories are from freshman year just figuring out how everything works”. Akshay has been a part of the Homestead robotics team for 3 years but has been doing robotics for nearly 6 years. Akshay says, “My favorite part of competitions is meeting people from other schools and seeing people I don’t get to see all the time”. In a couple of weeks the team, Kraken-Pinion, will head to worlds in Houston, something Akshay claims is one of his biggest accomplishments in being a part of robotics. Ultimately, Akshay is excited to be a part of such a competitive environment and see what he and his team can accomplish.
