Liliana Espinosa has been doing art her whole life, and it’s been a passion since elementary school. She doesn’t see herself pursuing it as a full-time career, but would like to do it as a side gig. Espinosa’s favorite medium is oil paints, she used this medium in this featured piece. Espinosa was inspired to make this piece because she liked doing portraits, and wanted to try using oil paints on a portrait, and also wanted to replicate older styles of art, specifically the work of Johannes Vermeer. This is a basic portrait of a woman, based on the deity Demeter. Using older oil painting techniques to create a more interesting piece. Espinosa is happy she made this piece because it inspired her to do more oil painting. Espinosa received a silver key from Scholastic for this piece of art!
