Sylvia Moser has been creating art since the 6th grade during the lockdown. Moser doesn’t plan on pursuing art as a career, but isn’t quite sure what she wants to do, except that she wants to minor in art in college. She doesn’t have a favorite medium yet, but she enjoys using different types of materials to create art and learning to use all of the mediums. This piece was inspired by an old photo of Moser where my hair was standing up in the air. “I used to dislike my curly hair when I was younger, but when I found this photo, I knew I wanted to take something I used to be insecure about and entangle my passions and interests in it since they make up who I am.” This piece is called “Thoughts Stuck in my Head.” It was made on an 18×24-inch piece of toned paper and used colored pencil as my medium. Moser struggled with making the skin tone look realistic and the proportions, but after receiving help from her art teacher and spending time figuring out what she thought looked weird, Moser was able to finish it. Overall, creating this portrait was fun and helped me grow a lot as an artist, She hopes that in future portraits she can continue to grow my skills.
