Scout Bonkoski, a senior at Homestead High School, shares her bittersweet story about meeting her little sister for the first time. Bonkoski explains that her siblings are very important to her. She states, “I have a little brother, Talon, going into freshman year, and a sister, Meadow, who is seven.” She later explains that Meadow was born two months premature and weighed only 3.5 pounds. Meadow was then held at the NICU for one month before she could come home because she needed intense care. The doctors were not sure if Meadow was going to make it due to her being very malnourished. Bonkoski then shares that this was one of her most bittersweet moments in life because she was very excited to meet her new sister and become a role model for her. However, it was very scary because she was struggling. Bonkoski said, “Meadow is doing great now, going into second grade at Donges Bay.” Meadow will proceed to persevere through the obstacles life throws at her.
