Athletic trainer, Kyle Rabuck, is a well-known friendly face throughout Homestead. Rabuck has been at Homestead since 2018, yet he has been an athletic trainer for 16 years. He chose athletic training through his love of sports and his interest in medical care. When asked if he would have chosen a different career, Rabuck responded, “I enjoy coming here everyday. If I didn’t enjoy it, I wouldn’t have come. I have enjoyed my last 16 years of doing my job, and I’m looking forward to my 17th.” A typical day for Rabuck begins around 1:15 p.m. when he arrives at Homestead to assist any student-athletes who have a study hall and are seeking medical attention before a game or practice. On practice days, he is usually in the training room until about 6 o’clock p.m. On game days, though, you’ll find him on the sidelines, in the dugout, or wherever he is needed, always ready to spring into action. “It’s hard to beat a Friday night football game, playing underneath the lights with a big group of fans behind you, but I really enjoy almost all sports” Rabuck emphasized. When reflecting on his favorite memories on the job, Rabuck shared, “I would have to say just being able to watch kids that have had to sit out for a long time being able to get back in and compete again. I’m happy for them, happy for their parents, happy for their team to have them back. Those are the ones that feel good.” If you ever find yourself in need of medical attention or even just someone to chat with, stop by the training room to see an always smiling Kyle Rabuck.
