Freshman Friday: Julian Stechschulte slides his way through high school

Every Friday, a lucky freshman is selected to be featured on The Highlander Online. Each freshman is interviewed in order for students to get to know this year’s newest Mighty Highlanders. This week’s pick is Julian Stechschulte, a baseball player and traveler.

What do you love about baseball?

Well, I have been playing since I was young and I haven’t stopped loving the sport. I love how you can fail 70 percent of the time and still be considered a good player. You usually fail more than you succeed and you can still be amazing.

What are you looking forward to in your future years at Homestead?

Seeing myself progress from freshman year to senior year and seeing what I have accomplished in school and sports.

What are your hobbies/interests?

I love training for my sports when it isn’t in season and I mostly spend my free time following other sports.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?

Orlando, Florida. I love Florida because of the warmer weather and the beach. I wish I could visit more often because traveling is one of my favorite things to do.

If you could go on a road trip with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Derek Jeter. He is my role model and it would be cool to know what it was like being a professional baseball player.
