Hickman hopes for change in policy

Lonnae Hickman, sophomore, was reinstated as script secretary in Homestead Theatre’s The Mikado on Feb. 1.
Previously, the district requested Hickman’s resignation via written request on Jan. 29 after her student status dropped from full to part-time for medical reasons. According to Hickman, the district met with Hickman and told her they were making an exception so she could fulfill her duties though the last day of the production on Feb. 8.
However, according to Hickman, the policy will not change. She hopes the district will consider establishing specific rules for home-schooled and part-time students.
District administration cannot comment in personal student matters.
