The 90s and 2000s were some of the best decades yet. Kids these days play on their iPhones, XBOX 360s and spend their free time watching shows on Netflix. They do not play Mad Libs, go on Club Penguin or roll around school in Heelys. However, there was a time in everyone’s early childhood when they did. Check out these 20 reasons you knew you grew up in the late 90s or early 2000s for a nostalgic laugh.

- Bill Nye the Science Guy was the only science video you looked forward to

Butt scooters were extremely fun to race your classmates with as long as you did not get all of your fingers chopped off. “Running over your fingers with these was the worst experience ever,” Jack Popp, junior, said.
- You watched hours of Fred videos and laughed at his stupidity
HEY IT’S FRED! The most annoying, yet entertaining guy on Youtube. Even though his voice was extremely obnoxious and sounded like he just sucked on loads of helium, Nickelodeon still made a movie about him.
- You went on Club Penguin all the time
Back in the early 2000s, Club Penguin- the flirting website of today- was definitely the hottest computer game. “I would log on to Club Penguin just to get myself purposely banned,” Mari Sadowsky, senior, said.
- You owned an extreme collection of Silly Bandz
If you did not own and trade hundreds of Silly Bandz, then are you really a 2000s kid? “At sleepovers, my friends and I used to steal each other’s favorite Silly Bandz,” Allie Haddad, junior, said.
- You spent hours gaming on the Nintendo GameCube System
Whether you played Zelda or Mario Kart, nothing today compares to the joy you experienced while playing on your GameCube.
- Cosmic Brownies were the best dessert ever
Of course you did not know where any of the ingredients came from, but you ate them anyways.
- You had over 10 Nintendogs that you played with on your Nintendo DS
The most addicting Nintendo DS game, Nintendogs was fun until you forgot to feed and groom your dogs, resulting in their death. “I remember I had all huskies, but they are probably dead by now,” Jordan Ellerbrock, junior, said.

The basis of where you learned how to distinguish between a noun, an adjective and a verb. It’s probably why you’re so good at English now.
- You played with Silly Putty
You spent hours trying to get it out of your hair or clothes.
- You had about 50 Webkinz (not exaggerating)
Waiting every day to spin the wheel of fortune was the most anticipated part of playing Webkinz.
- All the cool people had a pair of Heelys
Heelys were definitely the most trendy mode of transportation. “Heelys are the most sensible mean of transportation because they are good for the environment. It’s not like a bike you have to store because they are always at your feet. And the best part is you look super stylish while sk8tin’ past the haters.” Lizzy Tucker, junior, said.

If you’re a girl, all of your school papers and handouts had to be stored in the brightest and glitteriest folders ever.
- Your entire future relied on one simple game: MASH
MASH, an abbreviation for mansion, apartment, shack and house, was played by all preteens in order to predict their futures. “I totally believed that my results in MASH actually told my future,” Alli Stendler, senior, said.
- You wore tons of slap bracelets
The infamous slap bracelets, also used weapons, were extremely popular back in the 90s.

On a hot summer day, eating this ice cream was the best way to cool off. Plus, who didn’t love the taste of the wooden spoon?
