On Monday, the Homestead boys golf team traveled to Tripoli Country Club to participate in a conference meet. The next day, the Highlanders went to Bristlecone Country Club to compete in a meet composed of 15 other schools from around the state.

Despite the exhaustion of back-to-back competition, the boys battled through the difficult courses and tough weather conditions and tied for first place on Monday and a seventh place finish place on Tuesday.

In the Monday meet, Robbie Morway, sophomore, led the way and shot a 36 at Tripoli and on Tuesday, Charlie Maleki, senior, shot a 73 which provided the Highlanders with the needed advantage to tie Whitefish Bay. “Of course we’d love to score lower but we’ve come out of the gate swinging,” Blake Anderson, senior, said.

The meet on Monday flowed smoothly, while the Highlanders fell back Tuesday at a challenging course where shortfalls were evident. “Putts just didn’t seem to fall for me,” Joe Hobbs, junior, said.

Although the Highlanders did not perform exactly how they would have liked, they are confident in this year’s possibilities. “There’s still time to improve and we’ll go as far as we can at the end of the season,” Anderson said.

The team’s next meet will take place at Hidden Glen Golf Club on Thursday.
