Spooktacular crafts to create throughout fall
Halloween is right around the corner, so decorate your home inside and out with these festive decorations. “I am always looking for new, inexpensive ways to decorate my house,” Skylar Pak, junior, said. These projects are super easy and can be made with common household items while still maintaining a sophisticated demeanor.
Bat Wreath
Materials:
Glue
Gray yarn
Styrofoam tube (circular)
Black construction paper
Scissors
Green ribbon
Directions:
1. Begin by wrapping the circular tube with the yarn. Continue wrapping until the entire circle is covered. Tie off the end at the top.
2. Cut the construction paper into different-sized bats. Glue the bats onto the left side of the tube
3. Finish your wreath by tying your green ribbon to cover the knot (see step 1).
4. Hang on a door for a spooky atmosphere.
Leaf Candle Holder
Materials:
Mason jar
Mod podge
Various colored leaves
Gold glitter
Directions:
1. Cover the mason jar with the mod podge.
2. Place the assorted colored leaves on top of the glue.
3. Add another layer of glue. Add gold glitter onto this layer for extra sparkle.
4. Let the jar dry overnight. Afterwards, place a candle in the bottom and set it out for a fun atmosphere.
Leaf Letters
Materials:
Mod podge
Various colored leaves
Wooden letters
Directions:
1. Choose which letters you want to decorate. Completely cover these in mod podge.
2. Put leaves all over the letters.
3. Put another layer of mod podge on top of the leaves.
4. Let the glue dry overnight until shiny.
5. Hang the letters around the house for a festive atmosphere.
