Emilija Mikalauskaite, Intro to Publications Staffer

Emilija Mikalauskaite, a sophomore, is essentially carefree and unique. She comes from Lithuania...that’s why her name is so unbearably hard to pronounce/spell. She’s the only Emilija in the school...and city…and state...and probably country to be honest… She’s also very snarky 120% of the time and often too stubborn to admit that she is ever wrong.  She is very nerdy and likes childish stuff like Yu-Gi-Oh! And playing video games for 30 hours a day (yes, 30). She enjoys riding her bike (as you can read about in the 2015-16 yearbook.) Emilija is afraid of nothing! Except tight spaces… Her skills include telling jokes that are unintentionally funny, complaining about things such as how colour blind she is, spelling things the European way, doing 8 hours of homework in 30 minutes, and then watching 5 years worth of a TV show in a couple hours. She enjoys playing the largest instrument in the orchestra and having. She is also really obsessed with DAVID BOWIE (no joke. It’s kind of scary). I am so glad to be part of the Highlander Publications team! Wait…. are these photos actually in black and white?

Chris Eckhardt, junior, gets ready to push off the block for yet another race. After swimming his event, Eckhardt gets back into the pool with his team and continues swimming warm-ups. “The Jugmen as a team did better [now] than last year and we all took a step in the right direction. Personally, I feel like I did well.” Eckhardt said.
