Dogs throughout the community left the Feed Bag in Mequon spotless after Student Council’s annual dog wash and bake sale on May 21.

The goal of the bake sale, brat sale and dog wash was to raise money for the “Fairy Dogmother Project” which was formed to help keep families and their pets together during hard times. According to the Fairy Dogmother Project mission statement, “we’d like to provide healthy nourishment to the pets of families who are struggling with financial crisis.”

The majority of the profit from the dog washing and all of the proceeds from the bake sale were donated to the charity. Over the past several years, the Feed Bag has donated over 30,000 pounds of food to the Fairy Dogmother through fundraisers and donations.

“Participating in the dog wash allowed us to get donations to help families who are having economic struggles getting supplies for their dogs. Yelling at people and promoting them to come donate was also super fun,” Melissa Le, sophomore, said.

Students participated by washing dogs, selling goods and holding up posters promoting the cause.

“I really liked participating in the dog wash. Many volunteers enjoy washing the dogs and hanging outside. It also helps a good cause,” Rachel Fu, sophomore, said.
