Boys soccer hopes for a strong comeback after loss
As the game dwindled down to its final seconds, the boys varsity soccer team expressed their dissatisfaction for their performance. The team lost to Nicolet on Tuesday, Sept. 26 with a score of 6-3.
“There’s not two ways around it. We gave up. We got complacent with our lead, and we weren’t ready for them to fight back. We are in a bit of a rut right now, but I have all the confidence in the world that this team will turn it around,” Jeffrey Skow, senior, said.
The boys started off strong with a goal made by Ben Grant, junior, assisted by captain Luca DeMartino, senior. The following goal was made by DeMartino and assisted by Jackson Bogli and Jordan Gomez, juniors, making the score 2-2 at halftime.
“We need to keep our heads up and push forward throughout the season,” DeMartino said.
Shortly after halftime, the third and final goal was made by Colin Satchie and assisted by Max Kelly, juniors.
“I have hope that we all will work really hard at this point in the season to find our rhythm together like we had at the beginning of the season. With this rhythm, we will be prepared to compete against great teams we are coming up against in the next few games,” Kelly said.
Although Nicolet took the win this time, Jackson Bogli, junior, isn’t discouraged. “It was a tough loss for sure. Hopefully we can bounce back from it and keep going,” he said.
