Successful start for girls soccer
The Homestead varsity girls soccer team has established a strong reputation so far this season. With 3 games under their belts, all victories, they are off to a strong start to their 2019 season.
Their first game, played on March 26, started out with a bang as they beat Ronald Reagan High School 2-0. Their second game, played on March 28, was also a success ending in a win against Whitnall High School 5-1. Finally, their third game, played on March 29, was a 5-0 win against St. Mary’s Springs Academy.
Lauren Fitzsimmons, junior, is ecstatic about being one of the three team captains this year. “We all work really hard in practice and work together as a team. I like being captain because it gives me really good leadership skills that’ll help me for the rest of my life,” Fitzsimmons said.
Payton Kuenzi, junior, is enjoying her second season on varsity this year. “Our team chemistry is really strong this year and it’s really exciting to see how well it’s paying off and on the field,” Kuenzi said.
