Friday night lights begins
As summer winds to an end and the nights begin to grow cooler, that can only mean one thing for Highlander nation: football season. Homestead played against West Bend West Friday, Aug. 23, starting the season with a win of 42-0.
“It was an awesome game to be a part of, and it was nice to see the team come together and play a great game,” Luke Konik, senior, said.
Seniors Sam Henrichs, JJ Covil and Luke Konik. and Gray Stueber, junior, scored touchdowns to contribute to the victory.
“There’s a lot of new guys starting so it took a little bit to get started. But after the first few drives, the offense started to click and we scored on six straight possessions. Overall, it was a great first game, and I’m excited about where the team is headed,” Henrichs said.
Football season also brought performances from the Homestead marching band. Kitty Nelson, senior, has been a member of the marching band since freshman year. Nelson said, “Homestead football season is a fun way for everyone at school to show their spirit!”
The dance and cheer teams are also integral parts of the beginning of football season. “I’m so excited that football season has started because I love supporting the football team with all the girls on my team. It is my favorite part of the school year!” Anna Greisch, senior dancer, said.
