Every Friday, Highlander Publications chooses a freshman to be featured in “Freshman Friday,” giving the student population the opportunity to get to know its freshman class. Read below to learn about this week’s freshman, Jonathan Covill.


Do you have any siblings?

“I have one sister named Olivia.  She is 20 years old.”

If you could have any animal in the world as a pet what would it be?

“If I could have any pet I would want a tiger.”

What sports do you play?

“I play football, basketball and lacrosse.”

Which sport is your favorite?

“My favorite sport to play is football because it is the most physically demanding.”

What are you most excited for in your next three years at homestead?

“I am most excited for scholarships and state trophies in my sports.”

What has been your favorite part of high school so far?

“My favorite part of high school has definitely been having Mr. James Engle as my World Studies teacher.”

If you could be a sandwich, what kind would you be and why?

“If I could be any kind of sandwich I would be a fried chicken sandwich from Popeyes because it is spicy and crispy.  It’s the best food in the whole universe.”
