Westbrooke, number 23, practices with his team.

Every Friday, Highlander Publications chooses a freshman to be featured in “Freshman Friday,” giving the student population the opportunity to get to know its freshman class. Read below to learn about this week’s freshman, Kameron Westbrooke.

“My favorite sport is basketball because is involves being with my friends and working as a team to accomplish our goals,” Kameron Westbrook, freshman, said.

Westbrooke has been playing basketball for 10 years. “I started playing for Slammers when I was about five years old.”

This year, Westbrook played on the Homestead freshman basketball team.

Westbrooke has enjoyed not only playing basketball for Homestead, but has also pushed himself through the classes he’s taking.

“My favorite part about being in high school is that the teachers want you to push yourself and take harder classes,” Westbrooke said. “In my next three years at Homestead, I’m excited to see how I improve in football and basketball, and to see how this school changes me as a person.”
