Boys soccer team wins first playoff game

The boys soccer team took down Manitowoc Lincoln Thursday, Oct. 19 to win their first game in playoffs. The boys fought hard to defeat their opponents 5-1.

The boys were incredibly happy to continue their season and take home another win.“We need to keep our head focused and push through,” Luca DeMartino, senior captain, said.

The boys switched up their game plan and used new strategies to ensure control of the game. “We don’t really want to get stuck on one of the field, so by switching it and playing diagonal balls for the top, we were able to penetrate the defense and score,” Josh Teplin, sophomore, said.

Using their new strategies, the boys were able to score five goals and win the game. DeMartino scored the first goal, Paul Hanson, junior, scored the second, Jordan Gomez, junior, scored the third, Chris Tiako, sophomore, scored the fourth and Jacob Kleiman, junior, scored the fifth.

“We played great, and I’m excited to move on,” Hanson said.

The team’s next game will be played on Saturday, Oct. 21 against Arrowhead where they hope to score another regional win. “It’s 90 minutes in a game, we have to play all 90,” DeMartino said.
