Moving towards the end of the school year, seniors become nostalgic of what they have created at Homestead, but excited for what is to come in their future.
Maisie Lidstone, Anya Boegel, and Olivia Morgan, seniors, are excited for not only the college experience as a whole, but especially for the sporting events that come with it.
When it comes to anticipating freshman year of college, seniors often show enthusiasm across many different areas, particularly regarding different fun traditions and opportunities that come out of many universities’ game days.
Morgan and Lidstone both anticipate fun traditions that they are looking forward to in their upcoming year at the University of Iowa and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“I’m looking forward to the Hawkeye Wave, which is just where all the students and anyone at the home games wave to the kids in the hospital that overlooks the stadium,” Morgan said.
Lidstone is most excited for Madison’s infamous “Jump Around.”
“I’m very excited for that, and it will be a great time doing that in the stands,” Lidstone said.
Fun traditions like these are what encourage students to attend a certain school and are also what excite them for the upcoming year.
Senior Anya Boegel is also looking forward to the fun traditions that come with Kansas game days. Not only is she looking forward to the school’s traditions, but she also expressed her excitement for the friendships she will meet through games.
“I’m really excited to meet a lot of people because I know a lot of people go to sporting events, especially the basketball games at Kansas,” Boegel said.
As the seniors look forward to the sporting events ahead, they try not to forget the memories of sports games they will miss back at Homestead. Senior Morgan and Boegel will cherish the sporting events they attended at Homestead.
“I’ll definitely miss going to our homestead football games, hockey games, and soccer games because I feel like we showed out a lot there and it was really fun,” Morgan said.
“I will definitely miss supporting my friends,” Boegel said.
Whether it was a good showing of people or supporting friends, seniors will remember that there was always something fun about the atmosphere of Homestead sports.
While they might not be cheering for their closest friends in the games they’ll attend in their near futures, these seniors could not be more excited for the excitement and opportunities that will come from university sporting events.
