Bella Barbiere, senior, feels confident in her team going into this week’s tournament. “I think our team is well prepared; we have been giving it our all this season and practicing constantly,” Barbiere says. “We are really supportive of each other and want each other to succeed,” Barbiere adds.

The Mighty Highlanders are beginning their second week of school after a relaxing Labor Day weekend, and fall sports are starting to reach the season of large-scale competitions. This Wednesday, Homestead’s girl’s varsity golf team competes in a tournament against 17 other varsity teams at the University Ridge Golf Course.

The pressure is on for junior Abbey Schneeberger as she hopes that she and her team will win the title at this statewide competition. “It would be a big confidence boost if we won this week because sectionals is quickly approaching,” Schneeberger said.

Bella Barbiere, senior, is very excited that her team has the opportunity to play on this challenging course. “With our biggest rival, Kettle Moraine High School, attending the tournament, Wednesday is an awesome opportunity for us to see where we stand against other teams who could make it to state,” Barbiere said.

“Scores have been coming down, and I really like the way the team is coming together,” head coach John Krueger said, “but we need to be more consistent across the board if we want to finish at the top of the conference and make a push at going to state in October.”
