Senior night: Homestead prepares for Marquette

A gang of Highlanders celebrate after a goal. Max Henry, senior, has scored six goals this season. "I've been playing hockey my whole life and it has become a large part of it. With my last year at Homestead, the fear of falling short of our full potential had been inspired by previous seniors and continues to inspire this season," Henry said

Homestead will be celebrating its seniors this Thursday as the team takes on Marquette at the Ozaukee Ice Center.

Senior night is a time for the seniors to be recognized for their past success throughout their school and team. Thursday will be a special night for the likes of Adam Hobbs, David Hathaway, Patrick Katz, Max Henry, Cole Simpson, Alex Puhl and Will Gebhardt.

The Homestead boys take on an admirable opponent in the Marquette Hilltoppers at eight p.m.  Homestead has yet to face this opponent this year but beat Marquette last year in the Milwaukee Admirals Cup.  Marquette is coming back with a sour taste in its mouth and will definitely be set on trouncing Homestead when it gets its chance.

Marquette is 4-6-4 on the season, beating the likes of Germantown, Waunakee, Greendale and Sun Prairie.  Mike Gilbert, Max Boll and Charlie Bolles round out the top three point scorers with 19, 11 and 7 respectively.  Its goalie averages a .903 save rate per game.

Homestead matches up pretty well against Marquette, holding an 11-5 record this season. Cole Simpson, Joey Hobbs, junior, and Adam Hobbs lead the charge with 28, 26 and 16 points apiece. Hathaway, the man presumably in the net is averaging a .917 save rate this season.

Marquette recently earned its sixth tie of the season against Madison West, finishing the game with a 3-3 score this past Saturday. Homestead just zambonied the ice with WNS as it easy handled its foe, scoring five goals and shutting WNS out in the process, on its way to guaranteeing a share of the conference championship.  This will definitely be a night to be remembered for the seniors, so if you are in the area, be sure to check out the Highlanders as it takes on the Hilltoppers for its senior night.

David Hathaway, senior, stands guard, awaiting a shot on goal. Hathaway has averaged a .9.17 save rate this year. "Being a senior on the team this year makes me realize it's our season, meaning we will get out what we put into it, for some of us it might be our last season playing so it's on our shoulders to lead the team to where we want to end, as we can accomplish many things if we show others the work ethic to win.”
