Jared Stieve, junior, pitches during the Highlanders match up against Port Washington in late May. The Highlanders defeated the Pirates 13-3 and are hoping for a similar result against Germantown tomorrow.

After yesterday’s 3-5 loss to Brookfield Central, the boys baseball team is looking for a victory against Germantown tomorrow at Rennicke field.

So far, the Highlanders are tied in fifth with a record of 1-1 in the North Shore Conference behind West Bend West, Grafton, Whitefish Bay, and Germantown. The Bulldogs are also in fifth with a record of 1-1.

Homestead scored one run in the seventh inning yesterday, but were no match for the three runs and five runners scored in the fifth by Brookfield Central. The Lancers are currently 4-1 on the 2015 season, as compared to the Highlanders record of 3-2.

“We couldn’t get a lot of offense going because of the good pitcher so we had to rely on our defense which wasn’t quite enough,” Ryan Cho, junior, said.

The Warhawks, on the other hand, are 2-3 on the season so far, winning two games against University School and Nicolet and losing to Jefferson and Cedarburg. To recap, the Highlanders have won against West Allis Hale, Waukesha West and Port Washington but lost to West Bend East and, most recently, Brookfield.

The 2014 season saw a barrage of victories for Homestead against the Warhawks: their first game saw them vanquish their opponent with a final score of 13-11, then by 10-4 and finally by 5-2.

“Germantown is always a tough team in our conference and we need to get our bats going against them,” Trevor Cho, senior, said.

Come see the Highlanders take on the Warhawks tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at Rennicke Field.
